The Luvly Conversation Deck

Dear Luvers,

I already hinted at this little project in my Luv Letter to 2025, but it’s finally here: the Luvly Conversation Deck.

A product I’ve been quietly working on for the past four months, prototyping it with my tiny printer in France, testing it with friends scattered across the world, and carrying it with me wherever life took me. And now, it feels like the right moment to share it with you.

Over the past few years, I’ve fallen a little bit in love with question cards. I love deep conversations. I love getting to know people better. But I’ve always struggled with coming up with the right questions on the spot. I invested in a few decks: Dutch, international, and online versions. And while I loved the concept, something was always missing.

There was no build-up.

You’d jump from a light, playful question straight into something that shook you to your core… and then back to something easy again. I often found myself skipping questions, which immediately raised eyebrows around the table. So naturally, I thought: what if I made my own?

I wanted a deck with a clear journey. One that moves gently from small talk to something deeper. One that offers different ways to play, depending on who you’re with and where you are.

Because, let’s be honest, starting a deep conversation isn’t always easy. When you meet people for the first time, there’s no trust yet. During my time volunteering, for example, you’re thrown headfirst into a group of strangers and somehow expected to build a bond within days. For those moments, the late evenings with tea or the quiet afternoons in between activities, this deck would have been perfect. You start at level one: The First Stop, and as the days go by, you move a little deeper.

And then there are moments with people you already know by heart. Like when I was in Ibiza with my best friend this year. After years of friendship, some questions felt too easy, but others felt too intense to start with. In those moments, we would’ve begun at level two: The Scenic Route or even level three: The Deep Dive, meeting each other exactly where we were.

Conversations matter to me. Even though I’m very much an open book, I still believe you have to ask the right questions for someone to truly open up. And not everyone knows how (or dares) to do that. That’s why I love question decks: they create space for new conversations with strangers, friends, and even family.

There are also endless ways to play in bigger groups. I tried a few with my ride-or-die friends in France. We played by choosing our own level. We used a Twister-style spin to determine who had to answer. Sometimes, we would ask a specific person a question out of curiosity or because we genuinely didn’t know what they’d say.

There’s no right or wrong way to use this deck. That’s the beauty of it.

And who knows, maybe one day there will be expansion packs. Questions for certain seasons, situations, or holidays.

But for now, the Luvly Conversation Deck is available in my shop, ready to help you move from small talk to soul talk and to start the new year with the best conversations yet.

Spread the Luv,

Isabella
